Sheepshead Bay, named for the sheepshead fish which was once very common in the area. This pier has drawn anglers since its founding, dated back in the 1800’s.

Sheepshead Bay served as an outlet for both pier fishing and chartered fishing boats. Pier fishing can be done along the strip all along emmons avenue. Stella’s, a bait and tackle shop is located right on emmons ave. supplying anglers with any fishing equipment. Common catch includes bunker, eel, striper, fluke, bluefish, and winter flounder.

Chartered boats sails out daily offering both half-day and full-day trips departing at 7am.

Crabbing is also popular around the area during the months between august to october.
